Do you fear suffocating in your sleep?

I do, and this isn't brought on by reading Readers Digest.
My lovely brother passed on some germs to me and for the past week I have been coughing up a storm (for a day or so I had the coveted goose-honk cough but sadly it didn't last long) and at night my throat gets really dry and I have this fear that I will die in my sleep because I will suffocate.
Yay for irrational fears!
I have taken it upon myself to get rid of it because a week is plenty long enough thankyou so this morning I dissected three Cold Fx's and mixed them into peanut butter. Hopefully it shall cure me.

Show Time!

Its quite hard to believe actually, it's already December! The first Nutcracker shows were on the weekend (1st and 2nd) and didn't go too badly. The next shows are this weekend and then on the 21 and 22. (I think) Ergy and apparently there is some T.V. thing that we are doing at 5am on wednesday (I imagine it will go splendidly with everyone half asleep) so tomorrow I get to ask the moderately scary teacher of my other classes if it's ok with her for me to either miss or be rather late to her class (the class that I happen to have missed a few times before for Nutcracker stuff) fun fun.
Today I ensnared a video of lerabbit stealing pig food. Quite entertaining I think. I shall post it when I get it loaded onto the computer and figure out how to post videos.

A most horrible post

It is killing me to write this but it's one of those things that I have decided is something I need to do to help bring closure. Unfortunately a blog post is one of the worst methods of communicating this, in my opinion, but I am doing it anyways because then everyone knows, I only have to go through this once and maybe, just maybe, articulating it in words will do something to move me forward.

Another one of my dear creatures passed away on Monday, Whistle. It seems like this one has been the hardest for me to come to terms with. I don't know if it because I have known her for the entirety of her life, so have been responsible for her health and wellbeing or because she was still so young and seemed perfectly healthy. Whistle and Trouble were always my favourites of the baby pigs, they were the smallest and have always seemed just a little bit more delicate than the others. Maybe part of it is that I know that I haven't been giving the other critters the most attention since we have been trying to increase Troubles weight, and that if I had, maybe I would have noticed something was different, or wrong. Or my theories that if I had been there a bit sooner I could have changed the course of action, or at least held her. I just don't know.

I keep telling myself that she isn't alone, that Trilby will be so happy to see her, one of his babies, again, but it really isn't helping. That she is nice and cozy in the fleece sleeping bag we made her but all I can think of is her being cold and alone, and that this past while hasn't been full of as much love and attention a little piggy can handle and I will never be able to change that.

Something must have known though; Sunday night I was feeling guilty about her and Oreo getting so little attention and mom was lying on the couch so I gave her a pig to hold, I don't know why I chose Whistle, but am I glad I did. I am so happy that she did get that one last loved-pig moment, I just wish I had been the one to give it.

Okay, I need to stop, I am a wreck again and I am just spieling away, making it painfully clear how truly pathetic I am. Sorry folks, if each time gets worse for me, when we are middle-aged with dying parents, I am going to be in horrible shape. Escape now while you still can.

My Life, now with a plan.

A Plan? How amazing is that!? Pretty spectacular I know, and to make matters even more shocking is the fact that there are backup/alternate plans as well.

You are dying to here these glorious plans now aren't you? Well here goes:
#1 Finish my courses I am doing right now and take the rest of the year off to work (I am thinking the Costco bakery but we shall see) while also auditioning for small companies and University programs. What happens in regards to them dictates the next segment of my plan.
-If some company accepts me then I go there, there is also the possibility of returning to le school of last year to volunteer for the summer and then go to this other program (in going, you are looked at for a trainee position into this one company, and at the end they supposedly talk to you/ give feedback, sounds good methinks)
-If some school accepts me then I look into that, me plan is to hopefully find a school that offers a Bachelor of Science with a Ballet major which would then let me get the degree and then if I wanted to go into vetrinary stuff or something, I would be able to without having to redo the degree.
-Take my R.A.D. Intermediate exam which will then allow me the to take this ballet B.A. program through the University of Surrey, however I found out that it is a teaching program, so I am incredibly thrilled with that avenue, but it is a three year degree which sounds nice to me.
-Volunteer at Vet Clinic here over Christmas break in order to get the required hours to get into the Animal Health Technician program. Then see if I get in since they only accept 30 people. Not super keen on this one either mainly because it is a three year program but all you get is a diploma and it really doesn't get you any closer to a veterinary degree.

Yay planning, now I just need to get myself in gear and start working on my courses so that they can get done topspeed and with good grades. I am hoping that if I opt to go to a school in the US (where all the ballet + B.S. schools are) I can be a transfer student and thus skip the S.A.T. process and whatnot, hooray.

Anyways, now it is just figuring all the logistics out and dropping the bomb on leparents. Fun fun.

In other news, I has been doing some knitting. I got yarn for these socks that I have been ogling for ages, last year, and finally started them last week. The first sock is done now, shall take pictures soon. I am quite pleased as they is two colours and this is my first time doing 'colourwork' and in the process I finally forced meself to learn the other/faster way of knitting.
Alrighty, that is my big spielyhoo that is all forward thinking and optimistic, hopefully something on that plan will actually work out and I can have purpose to the life.

Seven Years!

My Baby is Seven!!

Well actually, two Sundays ago (the 28th), I am just fashionably late.

Of course this requires pictures! I am a fiend/procrastinator so I don't have any birthday pictures yet, but I have plenty stocked up elsewhere!!

Okay, well there are more but I shall restrain myself.
So he has turned into a huge mooch as of late. It's quite amusing actually. Pretty much anytime I am in the kitchen, particularly if I am in the fridge or the cupboard, then he will come running over and start nosing around my legs and following me around, sometimes getting pushy enough to start nudging my ankles/feet until I give him some kind of food. It's wonderful, me bun is turning into a dog! I have been force-feeding Trouble this glorious mixture, either Critical Care (this pellet powder type stuff) with pumpkin puree and carrot juice or with pumpkin puree and this juice called 'Extreme Green", and Snowy is a huge fan so he gets to clean out the container I use to mix it up in and then if he is particularly lucky he can clean off the tip of the syringe when it gets messy (this gets alternated with the other pigs, they all seem to like the mixture except Trouble)

Anyhow, evidently I need pictures of that process aussi.

That is all for now. Actually no it isn't, time for a wee ranty.
I am paralysed with my courses, actually, or so I have decided. First off, I am doing cruddo in my English course which stresses me out because I never actually learned some of the necessary grammar type things (like how to use comma's etc.) and it is most certainly showing up now. Also I have very little motivation so I don't work on them terribly often/am easily distracted so I am afraid I am not going to be able to finish them in time. In short, I am thinking that I am really not cut out for this school stuff and I want a break.
Okay, now that is actually all.

The pictures have returned!

Hooray! I like the blog so much better with pictures, being a visual person myself and all.

Soo, plenty of pictures from ages ago but for now I am sticking with my ever-favourite subject(s)... le creatures!! I am sure you shall all soon be sick of them but too bad because I think they are adorable and thus will never tire, mwahaha.
These are actually from the most recent photoshoot since most of my other creature pictures still aren't procured. This years fall photoshoot:

Le Rosiepig, isnt she so purdy here? I think she is quite the attractive lass myself:
Madame Velvet, this actually isn't from the fall photoshoot but yes, tres cute *drool.

Many pigs, haha, not the distance between Oreo and the rest of them, she was being a huge butthead, kept fighting with Rosie, so I put either Whistle or Trouble in between them and then she would just randomly bite whatever pig was there who would be *whine, what did I do*

So I present you the group picture sans bratty-pig:

Here she is, on the run. Haha, I like how they get all stretched out when they are heading somewhere.

And now, the rabbit, doing what he does best.

My favourite picture of all time even though it is incredibly cruddy. Oreo licking her cage, the next one is much better picturewise but I still like this one best.

Okay, and there is the end of your visual inundation.

I am having issues with border thing again, had long talk avec parents about going to airport (had plans for this weekend) but they are both quite convinced that going back is very likely to kill chances for easy entry ever again and that it is pretty much a no because they have the school blacklisted. So while I really want to be able to go back now I dont want to possibly kill my chances of say going for the summer by trying now. Gah, why can't they just be reasonable individuals?

Oh well, I guess I have another week at least to think it over.

The Roads Are No Longer Safe

Just thought I should warn you all. No longer safe, as in, le Hermit is learning to drive! *evil grin*

Episode #1 didn't go too badly, as in both pere and I are alive and the car is unscathed. I would say my greatest downfall as a driver is my tendancy to let go of the steering wheel and stare at my feet when things aren't working out or the how I just let go, stop pressing pedals etc. and then panic when the car continues to move (at a blistering pace of about 5km/h). However as my current top speed is 20 clicks I would say that the vast majority of our streets are safe for some time yet.

Soy cheese and other musings

So let say, hypothetically speaking, that one was to engage in a quest for soy cheese. It would be reasonable to assume that the individual in question is looking for said product for a variety of reasons with a high probability of an aversion to dairy products being among them. In which case it seems rather backwards for such a product to contain such an ingredient.
Now why would this be of relevance?
Well lets just say that in my recent attempt to remove the vast majority of animal-derived products from my diet, I picked up such a product. After purchasing it, of course, I looked at the ingredients to find an offending ingredient. It is quite frustrating to find dairy in a soy cheese product, and my question is, why? But I digress...

I got my package from CPYB today, hoorah! Now to convince the airport people.

I am actually kind of getting into the schoolwork stuff now. One of my instructors called today and it gave me quite the scare as I submitted the first bit early on and have done zip since then. Fortunately she wasn't calling to ask if I was still planning on doing the course.

The author of this blog I read: www.yarnharlot.ca is most entertaining. Anyhow the other day (okay maybe quite a while ago) she posted about her daughter graduating (well she actually graduated last June but she was going to the formal ceremony thing) and what she wrote about killed me. I present you my favourite bits:
"as the girls get older they hit these milestones that make you heave great sighs of relief. Your daughter turns 16? Awesome. No matter what, she can never be a 15 year old mother. 17? Wicked. She can never be a 16 year old addict. 18? The police can never bring her home charged under the young offenders act"
"last night, we hit a big one. Amanda can never be a high school dropout. Score."
I want to be like that when I am a parent!

Currently I am reading this book called "Sailing With Noah" by the president/CEO of the St. Louis Zoo. Quite good, I recommend. However, the latest section I read was quite intruiging. He was talking about PETA and he got onto the topic of animal 'welfare' vs. animal 'rights' and it basically got down to how so much is interrelated. Okay, of course everything is interrelated, but he was talking about how the plastic shoes that a vegan chooses require oil to be produced which ultimately destroys animals habitats, thus possibly making them go extinct etc.etc. The problem is that it makes it so hard to know what is doing more good.

Anyhow, I shall probably spiel more later as I should really do some schooling here, but yes, I think tis a good read, gives a lot of insight into what zoo's do.

P.S. Apparently Al Gore won the Nobel Peace prize. Not sure how I feel about this. I mean it's great and all, more coverage for environmental stuff buut somehow to me that doesn't really fall under the umbrella of Nobel Peace to me. I was hoping the Canadian would get it but I guess she isn't near as well publicized, but pleh. Also I have some quasi issues with him, read an article about his houses electricity use, and it was ridiculous, sorry buddy, but to me it's put your actions where your mouth is or I have a hard time thinking your such a great person bladebladeblah.

All over the place

So I finally got off my butt and signed up for classes, I am taking the BA classes at Alberta Ballet. That program must be tiny, the class is the year 2, 3, and 4's and it is still veery small. But bah, I need other classes because I am sure that just with them I am getting worse. I might be able to get credit for them though, so that would be grand (at least in the eyes of le parents)
However, when I went to the Nutcracker audition, the lady who runs the school was telling me about this new program, a three year BA with honours that I could do through her after I take my intermediate RAD exam. I tried looking it up though and I couldn't find anything, so I need to ask her more on this.
Still haven't got up to phoning the border people at the airport, bleh, I am so scared they are going to be mean after the horror stories me parents gave me from when they phoned.
I am majorly procrastinating on my courses, but yay me, my instructor said she didn't think I needed to move down an English level, weee. Tis splendid too, I wrote a paragraph having a bit of a rant (Hermit-style) about animal rights, and she emailed me back saying she is an animal 'freak' too and she is on the board for some wild animal rescue group.
Found this website: www.tmacvids.com and am trying to establish if it is entirely illegal or not. It seems like it should be but I tried searching it up with regards to its legality and what not and didn't come up with anything. So I am tempted to try it out, it has several videos on there that I wish to see, just need to conduct another search about it with regards to viruses because I certainly don't need any of that.
Hopefully I shall have pictures soon, I played piggie paparazzi a little while ago, just have to get father to show me how to use this program to get the pictures into the right format (he puts them in RAW format on his cameras so they can be meddled with on the computer, nice, unless you don't know how to use the program and thus can't look at your pictures)
Anyways, hopefully all is well with folks, it seems like I never talk to any of you anymore, more blog posting I say!

Bump on a Log

I am being a huge bump-on-a-log at the moment, its quite disgusting actually.
My courses started last week and so far I have started writing my first paragraph for my first English assignment but it is garbage and should have been sent in within the first few days of the course. I opened my Environmental course and looked it over, but that was a while ago and I have yet to touch it since and the third hasn't even been opened yet. Great start.
I haven't finished unpacking from when I came home in July and now I have all my stuff from my apartment cluttering up my room and the den as well, makes for happy parents.
On top of all that, I have done zip ballet-wise since the end of July sans one stretch class and some puttering around in my room.

I have deemed that this general lack of motivation is courtesy of me feeling like I have no purpose in life. It's a vicious circle; last year I did my courses because I had to, now there is no reason so I have little interest in working on them but I don't want to cancel them in case I get to go back and thus need them. (and by then I will be ridiculously behind if this keeps up) I am procrastinating on getting a job for fear I will have to quit after a stupidly short time because if I get a go-ahead for going back, nothing is stopping me! I keep researching about things to do and visas and whatnot all the while I am not finding a place to take class, for similar reasons to the job and because they have all started by now so I would have to jump in late, and thus getting more and more out of shape. Charming!

And I am sure you are all so thrilled to listen to continual grumblings on my part so I will endeavour to make this my last post on the subject unless I have happy news.

P.S. Like the piggies?

Goodbye Dreams

So I am well aware that nobody uses/reads these as of late but I am in need of a nice ranting place.
Yesterday we went to the border again where I was told no visa. GLARE. Thank you for ruining my life. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal when I had thought about the possibility of it happening before, but thats largely because I was quite sure that I would get another visa (helped along by two Border Protection people assuring me that they didn't see why I wouldn't be able to get another one) but it definitely is. Now I can't think of anywhere but being there and it's awful. I know that it is the best place to be and possibly the only place for me to be, seeing as every other place requires auditions. (that are, ahem, long over)
I NEED to go back. I don't think that these people understand what implications the decisions they make have. This is huge for me, I need to find somewhere to keep dancing, where I can take a bazillion classes, somewhere where the teachers are amazing, a place that can help me move forward to getting a job, if possible and right now the only place that fits all that is there and I am not allowed to go. On top of that, now, when I should really be looking for an alternate place to fit some/most of those requirements, I need to be on the road driving up there to get all my junk.
I really want to just go back for a little while (ie. until thanksgiving) but my parents are very leery of that because apparently their government will think that I am just trying to sneak into the country blablabla. Why yes, I would love to do that if it didn't mean being forever banned from the country after that etc.etc. but I have to go back, I need to go back, this isn't an option. Hopefully le parents can be convinced of that because really, me going until thanksgiving would be similar to me going on an extended vacation somewhere.
Anyways, I think that is the end of my life ruined rant.

Home, home, home!

I am finally home, hooray!

Courtesy of not knowing the visa status (skills to them being closed due to understaffing today) and not having a job etc. I am being a lazy butthead and catching up on blog-reading and such. Anyhew, I found this on one of the blogs I was peering at, so am attempting although I think I am going to fail miserably, hehe.

Haha, so that took me a ridiculously long time (as in two days) and mucho cheating. *grin*

Alrighty, and had plans for saying other things, but methinks not now. Although my parting words shall be reminding all that get togetherness must occur, pronto. I.e. planning should ensue topspeed.
That is all.

Cleaning Crazy!

Ugh, I think I understand why my mother always gets mad at us for making a mess.
If I find one more dirty counter a good 1/2 hour after I have cleaned it, crunchy floor after its been vacuumed, dirty pots and dishes filling the sink all the time, dirty shower after its been cleaned etc. I am going to go INSANE! Gah, it is SO frustrating.
Its rather ridiculous though, if you spill coffee on the counter, wipe it up, dont just leave it there, yeesh! But yes, hence all my cleaning-to-move-out efforts have so far gone to waste.

On a happier note, less than a week until I am home! Hooray to that. I am such a procrastinator though, its awful, I have basically done zip so far, this morning was the first real additional information I have received on any possible living places for next year, not that that is of utmost importance right now. I really need to find a place to leave my crap for the summer, dumdedum.
Anyways, tis time for beds, but hopefully we can make plans so I gets to see folks topspeed!!

P.S. Sorry Nomad/Ratty, I am a horrible person, I didnt call either of you and keep intending on it, but then dont manage to get around to it, hoerg.

I have been making some food

So I have been busy building food, and looking for recipes that will use up the goods that I have stashed away and you get a recap, enjoy.
First up,

Quinoa bread:

I made it largely from the recipe found here http://bakingsheet.blogspot.com/2005/12/whole-wheat-quinoa-bagettes.html but I changed it up a bit. On it is this fancy vegan peanut butter stuff I found at the evil wal-mart, dark chocolate and white chocolate. They are rather tasty (and now gone *grin*) and I was quite pleased to find something like that there. My ingredients list looked more like this:

1 cup whole, uncooked quinoa
2 cups warm water (about 105F)
2 tsp active dry yeast
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups rye flour
2 tbsp vital wheat gluten
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp olive oil

Vegan Blueberry Pancakes and Tofu Scramble:

The tofu scramble is just tofu cooked like one would scrambled eggs and I added mushrooms in. The blueberry pancakes were made from this recipe (from herehttp://www.veganconnection.com/recipes/blueberry.htm but I halved it):

1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1/8 cup rye flour
1/2 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup soy milk
1/4 tablespoon egg replacer mixed with 1 tablespoon water
1/3 cup blueberries
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and egg replacer and stir just until flour is moistened. Set aside for 5 minutes until the skillet is heated and stir in blueberries right before pouring.Heat non-stick skillet over medium heat; spray lightly with non-stick spray, if necessary. Pour batter by scant 1/4 cupfuls onto hot griddle, making a few pancakes at a time. Cook until tops are bubbly and bubbles burst; edges will look dry. With pancake turner, turn and cook until undersides are golden. Place on warm platter; keep warm.

Fig Newtons:

This is my happy recipe, I wanted to make them without any refined flour, sugar etc. so I peered at a bunch of different recipes and largely built my own.

Filling:
(based off a recipe from fatfreevegan.com)
Ring of dried figs
4-5 pitted medjool dates
1 tbsp. maple syrup
2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ginger
pinch of nutmeg

Place in food processer and grind to a paste.

Dough:
I cant find the recipe I based it on but I believe it was
2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1-2 tsp vegan butter
1 tbsp maple syrup
scant 1/4 cup water

Cut butter into flour and add maple syrup and water to mix into a dough. Split into two portions. Roll 1st portion out into a thin rectangle, spoon fig filling in two lines along dough, place second portion of dough, rolled out, on top, and cut between filling. Pinch the edge of the dough to seal.

Bake in 350-275 oven for 25-30 minues.

Eggless Egg Salad:
This is a rather tres good recipe, and me mere even liked it (although I didnt tell him the main ingredient was tofu, hehe) from here http://www.isga-sprouts.org/ but I did do some altering around but not much.

3/4 package FIRM TOFU
Small onion minced
1 medium carrot, coarsely-grated
1 stalk celery, finely-minced
1 small bell pepper, finely-minced
1/3 cup raw sunflower seeds
1 cup ALFALFA sprouts

Cut the tofu into dice-sized bits. Add onion, carrot, celery, pepper and seeds. Mix gently. Add the mayonnaise (below). Chill. Place Alfalfa Sprouts on wrap, add salad.

The Mayonnaise
1/4 package SOFT TOFU
2 teaspoons Chinese sesame oil
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Whip the first 5 ingredients in a blender or food processor. Keep the machine going, and gradually drizzle in the oil. When all oil is in you should have a nice, creamy, eggless mayonnaise to add to your eggless egg salad.

Vegan Cinnamon Buns:

Based off recipe from http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_33926,00.html

Dough:
1/4-ounce package yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup warm soymilk
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup vegan butter
egg replacer of one egg
3 1/2 to 4 cups whole wheat pastry flour

Filling:
1/2 cup melted butter, plus more for pan
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
3/4 cup raisins, walnuts, or pecans (I put them in a chunk of the batter and left the rest of it with just the cinnamon and sugar)

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. In a large bowl mix milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg replacer. Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth. Add yeast mixture. Mix in remaining flour until dough is easy to handle. Knead dough on lightly floured surface for 5 to 10 minutes. Place in well-greased bowl, cover and let rise until doubled in size, usually 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
When doubled in size, punch down dough. Roll out on a floured surface into a 15 by 9-inch rectangle. Spread melted butter all over dough. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over buttered dough. Sprinkle with walnuts, pecans, or raisins if desired. Beginning at the 15-inch side, role up dough and pinch edge together to seal. Cut into 12 to 15 slices.
Coat the bottom of baking pan with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Place cinnamon roll slices close together in the pan and let rise until dough is doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake for about 30 minutes or until nicely browned.

And that is it, I think.
I did make the BBQ ribz today but no picture yet, tis dark out now. I also have plans to make oatmeal chocolate chip cookies but its getting kind of late, so it might not happen here tonight.

Anyhew, 2 weeks!! Hooray!

So little time

So lately I haven't really been feeling like I have been accomplishing much of anything since I spend most of my day at the studio and then when I get home I rot and then go to bed. So in this time of rotting I have come up with quite a few things that are in my mental queu of things to accomplish so largely for my own sources,(you are welcome to add insight if you wish, please do in fact) I have decided to list them here so they are all in one place and such. Anyways it is fairly unlikely that the vast majority of these things will be accomplished/started here in the next little bit but I am schlepping them up here so I dont forget about them. So without further ado, my ohsoimpressive lists:
Knitting:

Patons Big Chill:

Patons Cables:

Rowan Classic Alpaca:

Folk Knitting In Estonia:

Summery Sweater Top:

Food:

Apple and Celery Salad & Wild Mushroom Lasagna:

These are both from The Best of Gourmet 2000, a book I procured from the library.

BBQ Seitan Ribs:

http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2007/05/barbecued-seitan-ribz.html

Eggless Egg Salad:
No picture here, but I have the ingredients for it so I am thinking I should have a picture of my own rather soon.

White Chocolate Brownies:

Recipe found here: http://tartelette.blogspot.com/2007/05/white-chocolate-brownies.html

Other:

Quilting:

I have been reading this series that involves a quilting camp and I think it has spurred an interest in me to try some quilting, that and the fact that it could, in theory, be done here, sans sewing machine. However I havent found a pattern or fabric or anything, so I dont know if anything will actually come of it.

Whew, and this is one long post so I will be done now because I really aught to be building me a resume at the moment.

The Start of Summer

Its strange because really, summer for me started when my courses ended, but truly this feels like summer to me. The summer course starts tomorrow, and five weeks from today I will (or should, if the stars align) be back at home, for a month at least.
I am pleased to say that I made it to the level I wanted, so I get partnering this summer, unless they changed the rules, which is good because I really need to get me some experience in that. I guess I will see tomorrow where the placed the rest of the girls from my level during the year.
Anyways, it seems like it has been much too long since I last spoke, er typed, to any of you. Bleh, I am hoping that when our lives settle down a bit, we will keep in better touch, maybe. heh. I keep reading about these groups of friends that will rent a cottage every summer for a week and go down there and have fun and it makes me think of us, many years from now when we have a disposable income, haha, novel concept that.
And lastly, a breakthrough, today roommate #2 (or 1, I dont remember which is which anymore, but the one that is still here) put her containers in the recycling, hooray progress. Previously she would just leave them on the counter and I would rinse them and put them in the recycling.
Anyways, off to bed with me, I actually have to get up tomorrow morning.

Meet my show

Okay, so I have looked long and hard for clips of the show that I appreciate, the cake show. T'is called Ace of Cakes, in case you weren't already aware. However the wonder of Youtube has failed me, there are few clips that truly encompass all that I really appreciate about the show. But, anyhow, this clip I found is decent:
So, the main fellow (the bald one) is Duff, he is the main fellow, the one that reminds me of Mr. Crooks, really appreciate him.
The girl with the shoulder length dark hair who talks about masking it is big on Scrabble, she plays in championships and such, so one time they had to make this scrabble board cake and she spent all this time making it absolutely perfect, hehe.
The girl who is tracing the Campbells Soup logo onto the cake dressed up as a dolphin when they went to SeaWorld or some place like that, amused me greatly, and there were normal people there etc. twas great!
The fellow who is making the soup cans lip is Geoff, at first he seemed kind of blah, sullen and not really all that great, but after watching the show for a while, I rather appreciate him, he has kind of a dry sense of humour and yes, me likeys.

Unfortunately you dont get to see Duffs huge appreciation for utilizing explosives in his cakes, and him using power tools. Buut now you are all aware how rather pathetically obsessed I am with the show now, so yes. If I find more clips I will be sure to share, as I am convinced that you all need to fully appreciate how great this show is.
Oh, and can we just note how great the cake is? Yep, majorly impressed with the skills. Hehe okay, enough blabbing.

Deliberations

Augh! I can't make up my mind, this is awful. So I have it in my head that constructing a pro and con list will make things better (yeah right) but here goes:

Pros of Staying Here Next Year:
  • I can be certain of getting the best possible training
  • The number of classes for the price is excellent, I am unlikely to find that somewhere else
  • I will be moving towards an education while I am here (something to fall back on if this fails)
  • I can be fairly certain that I will be performing some amount next year, good experience, resume fodder etc.
  • I am exposed to a wide variety of teachers here (more versatility, might be able to help me find places to look into later)
  • I can gte a true idea of how they think I am with where they place me next year vs. the other students
Cons of Staying Here Next Year:
  • Missing family, friends and pets
  • Possibly just wasting my time
  • The fact that it isn't well known at home could be bad for looking into jobs back at home
  • A year might not be enough time
  • I will likely miss important things back at home (brothers graduation etc.)
  • No working
  • So far I have no solid plans for where I would live next year etc.
  • No friends, lonliness etc. (if it is anything like these past few weeks)

Ugh, so I am not sure how much that did for me because some of the things I feel are worth more than others. Maybe I should just let the immigration people make the decision for me. I am very jealous of those people who know what they want for sure and go for it. Hoerg.

Random Thoughts Part 2

I am feeling rather disjointed so this seems like a good format for blogspieling:
-I am pathetic, the part where the kids leave their pets at the farm in Homeward Bound made me cry *smile*
-I think I have largely commited to trying to come back here for another year but I keep getting these nagging feelings that make me rethink things *cough, that scene in Homeward Bound etc.*
-A fairly substantial problem as of yet with the plan for next year is the lack of definite housing, which is el cruddo
-Someone finished themself their first pair of handknit socks last night while watching aforementioned movie (pictures to follow)
-Oh how I love Bush, ruining the G-8 environmental talks, among other things
-Hard to believe that I hs been graduated for a full year now, haha, what great things I have done with my life in that time
-Speaking of great things, I have spectacular time-wasting skills, no schoolwork and still I manage to do nothing of substance during the day
-I have been done my school stuff for a good week or two now and I still get these nagging feelings that I should be getting back to work, its great
-Yay for finally getting to speak to someone from back home(Rat) in person last night!
-I want to go on a picnic but how pathetic is that, to plan it all out and go on it, alone *sigh*
-I seem to have fewer random thoughts than I thought I had
Au revoir for now folksies.

Believe in life on other planets: I think so, although not the whole green alien spiel, I really have doubts about there only being one place in the universe that is inhabited
Believe in miracles: well I read something recently regarding miracles and how they are largely just a factor of human perception, things we perceive to be unable to occur, are thus considered as such, but really it is more likely to be a lack of understanding on our part, so maybe, but moreso in the theory that such occurances are nice but not necessarily due to a higher power etc.etc. *spiel

G-
Greatest Fear: oh gosh, plenty of those, and always changing depending on time of day etc. but big fear I have right now (not the greatest by far though) is making the wrong decision/one I will regret for next year

Goals: right now, to figure out next year/get my nerve up to talk to teachers and ask other girls re. accomodation

Random Thoughts

-Carpeting attracts, and hides, an impressively large amount of hair and dirt
-Said components of carpeting are rather difficult to remove from vacuum HEPA filters and brushes
-The process of cleaning such a filter may or may not completely negate all air cleaning benefits provided by the filter
-The process of cleaning an apartment with a vacuum equipped with such machinery is not fun, and may take a significantly longer time than expected
-This time is largely due to the fact that the apartment may or may not have been vacuumed in the past oh, 6 months or so, when vacuuming one must clean aforementioned appartuses (apparati?) several times in order to acheive adequate sucking powder
-Can you guess what I did for quite some time when I had the apartment to myself? hehe
-Raw, unsalted cashews are very tasty
-Soaked, raw, unsalted cashews are also very tasty
-Do not soak two cups of raw, unsalted cashews in preparation for a recipe requiring two cups as there will not be two cups available for use in the recipe
-Studying is evil, especially when it is accompanied by self-imposed deprivation from newly acquired food processor
-Not being able to contact your exam proctor to schedule the last exam, so as to remove self-imposed deprivation is awful and may involve several additional days of said deprivation
-The prospect of having all day (after I get up that is, and before dance, so maybe not that much time!) to do whatever I want after exams are written, is very pleasing!

That will be all.

P.S. Sorry for winey, obnoxious, lacking of specifics previous post. I am mostly better now, and shall explain in greater detail but somewhere that isnt on the internet for anyone and everyone to see.

Why can't I be 'normal'?

Gah. Can I just say how much I a) despise teenage girls and b) despise my sense of curiosity
Combination of the two makes for a real crappy feeling Hermit, I just want to be at home with you guys right now/ not be such a sensitive person.
I miss you guys so much right now.

Hiatus

Wow, it's been a whole month since I posted last.
Bit nycg beeb giubg ib (haha, I am leaving it like that, I typed that masterpiece while not looking at the keyboard, skilled typist am I) Now in english:
Not much has been going on here, plenty o' schoolwork, well actually less than should be, as usual, ballet, visits from le parents which means a bit of seeing the sights, ballet, and uhh, a bit more ballet. How exciting my life is.
Anyhow I am feeling rather out of touch with most of you folks, so more blogging aught to ensue.
Hmm, what to say, ha, I am sure you are all so interested in random crap about me, but yes, for now, thats what you get. Roomie and friend planned a trip to the big city, NY, for next weekend, but sadly it has been established that me will not be joining them as my exams are scheduled for that weekend and I am not at the point where I can do the exams early and I dont feel like I can spend a whole weekend not studying before them, so alas, I am missing out on that big trip. However that does mean that the evil schoolage is almost to an end, hooray!
Mere came down here to visit for me birthday (augh, I am SO old!) and among other things we procured a tomato plant *grin*, so I need to procure pictures of it and then name my leetle friend, and a food processer, so I can commence the buildage of better foodsles, after the schoolage of course.
Anyhow, I must be off here and likely shant be posting until after have escaped from the evil cloak of schoolwork but yes, would like to hear from folks.

Good Puppy

So here is the required questionnaire since I am a good puppy:

Respond with your name and...
1. I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll pick a flavor of jello to wrestle you in.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
5. I'll tell you my first memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll ask you something I've always wondered about you.
8. Everyone must post this on their blog too.

Although since 'tis Hermit, I dont know how well the whole movie/song portion will go. Consider yourself forewarned.

Also, since I am a good puppy, my claws are going. So sad, my pinky is almost at the height of my ring finger (it is at the base of the ring finger nail) *sniff* But bigcheeseballetlady noticed them today and although she didnt specifically say they were illegal and I needed to get rid of them, she did make it rather clear that she didn't like them. Haha 'stretch your fingers out more, although I can't blame you for not since you have those things at the end of them' pretty sure she thought they were fake too.

In other news, I am behind in school again *lesigh, I am going to be very happy when these courses are over.
I think I am turning into one of those people who have rather 'interesting ideas', case in point: I have taken a fairly hefty interest in this school (down here again, argh, why cant I find places at home) that teaches raw food cooking. Rest assured, I am not entirely sold on all their theories but I am rather fascinated by the idea and how they manage to make pseudo normal foods.
I had my first partnering class today, yay for that. It wasn't nearly as ackward as I had thought it might be so yay for that too!
My camera came back from the fixit shop, hopefully it is all good again and I shall have it back when me pere comes to visit me next weekend.
My room is a pigsty (thought you all needed to know that)
Hermit
P.S. Kes, she didn't say anything specifically about chocolate eating but in our first class back she told someone to hold their stomach and then was 'looks like some of you gained some weight over the break' heh, how lovely.

Friday the 13

Hoerg, back here again.
They didnt lose my luggage this time though, yay!
New courses, hooray for these ones being more interesting than cruddy business courses. I think they are going to be pretty high workload though, bleh.
Back to class was rather deathly, tis obnoxious that having a week off mangles me quite nicely. Ah well, they are getting easier again now.
Have been watching National Geographic videos on MSN video, very interesting, you folks aught to peer aussi. Saw one on this fellow who is living with a pack of wolves, a thing on Tsunamis, horses on Easter Island. But yes, now should meander back to schoolage.
Oh! Pere took me camera to fixit shop and should apparently be fixed (if it has the problem we think it is) in 2 weeks, so hopefully he should be able to bring it to me when he comes up the end of April. Tis good since I have been wishing to take pictures of some of the pretty trees in bloom now here.

Home Sweet Home

Things are good,
am home. luggage was not lost. exams are written. (hopefully I didn't fail and at this point I don't really care that much) it is snowing.
I think Catriona Le May Doan was on my flight, ha as I was a complete idiot. She was waiting for her luggage and had met her husband there and had her two kids and I was completely staring at her. *grin* In my defense, I was convinced that if I saw her smile I would be able to properly identify her, so I was waiting. She didn't ever do the whole 'I won the Olympics smile (hmm I wonder why) but I am quite sure it was her. I was pretty tempted to ask her, but yes, ditched that.
Anyways I feel like I am getting a bit sick so I am thinking that heading off to bed is a grand idea here.
Hermy
P.S. I am proud of myself for not scarfing down the Cream Egg we got at Safeway earlier tonight, I think I am saving it for tomorrow. Yay willpower
P.P.S. Plannage for stuff to do over this break aught to commence topspeed (I am rather paranoid that if plannage doesna ensue, we won't end up doing something so yes, topspeed!)

1 week!

Here I am posting again in lieu of doing schoolwork, stupid me. I got an extension for my final assignment which of course allows me to continue procrastinating on it. After this I shall work on it, in theory anyways.
So I am not flying out until monday, tis crapola because then monday is all eaten up with travelness but I guess such is life, the sunday one had some huge change fee. Hooey airlines.
Other than the one assignment, schoolage is all done, minus studying for the exams, ah well I think that next week I am going to have quite a bit of time on my hands (rehersal at the theatre from 5:30-9:30 every night and my part is veery small and in only one of two casts) so I might bring it with me for something to do. New courses technically start tomorrow though, so no break for me.
Heh, so last night was rather interesting. We went out to eat with this fellow from dance (he basically invited himself along, he works at the place and kept talking about his discount etc.) and it was charming. He is uh, rather vocal about things he is interested in, namely things I am not too comfortable with. I am pretty sure the couple at the table beside us were oh so pleased with the majority of the topics. Anyhow, I basically know a ton more than I ever wanted to about him and various other people at the ballet school.
In other news...

Roommate #1 is engaged *commence vomiting sounds*
Ha! I sound so mean, but I think it is ridiculous, she has known him for all of about 6 months, during which time they supposedly broke up. All I have to say is that their status makes no difference to me, I still dont want him here 24/7. Roommate #2 and I were joking about how he is probably going to suddenly move in, just randomly have all his stuff here etc. Except not, I seriously think that if that were to happen, I would take his stuff and leave it outside the apartment door *snigger* Okay, end of cruelty.
Now off to do my assignment!

The Monotony of School

So I had full intentions of this post being my first big spiely global warmingness one but yeah, not happening although it is in the works, I have started on it. This one gets to be rather short, maybe, although I sense a rant coming on, because schoolwork is pending. (says she who writes a blog post in lieu of working on one of two assignments or final project (that *ahem* has yet to be started) due within the next, oh, three days)

Ha, in regard to schoolness, I am beginning to get panicky but that has yet to actually spur me into seriously working on it. I hate being a procrastinator in times like these. I am starting to think I should contact my teacher about an extension but I dont really know what to say since I dont really have a reason other than cruddy time management skills.

I am also having panicky stressness about next year/life in general. I need to be making decisions here but I just want to avoid it all because I hate thinking that things will actually change and doors will close permanently etc. because of those decisions. Augh. However this sitting on the fence is getting me nowhere, in fact it too is closing doors, at least in terms of my options for next year. Basically when I am home at Easter I need to be looking into these ballet schools if that is something I want to pursue next year, but as of yet I haven't contacted them specifically about coming in during that time and I am kind of afraid that I am just wasting my time. Time is closing in on applying for school programs for next year and I will likely not know about my visa status until august. Besides that it is sounding more and more like me parents aren't super keen on that option and I am not 100% sold on it either. Argh, I need someone to tell me what to do, hoerg.
haha, so yes, ranting did occur.
Alright now I must be off to either go to bed or work on some schoolwork.

Everything in moderation...

mini eggs+lack of self control=unhappy stomach of hermits

So the sock is coming along somewhat slowly, but moving anyhow. Also did a smidge of work on meres sweater, pleh, I am having my doubts about it being done for this next trip home either, I am pathetic. Ah well, there is still mothers day, haha.

Roommate situation is frustrating as usual, roommate #1 returned, after a blissful week, and everything is back to normal. In fact, I feel like the line is being overstepped even more, he came over the other day before she got off work, (I was alone in the apartment) went into their (yes, she SHARES it with another GIRL, poor roommate #2) and closed the door. She didnt come back for a good half hour to an hour. Ugh, NOT appropriate at all. Another roommate meeting is pending here SOON.

So I kind of wanted this post to be my introduction to my Global warming spiel but I feel like it should be solely devoted to that topic, dumdedum. Maybe not, tis just the intro anyways;

So, basically as I see it, your personal environmental impact can be lessened in a large variety of ways. I am plotting of segmenting them and then spieling about each segment individually to prevent hugely long, boring posts etc. Segments, as of right now, being:
-Food
-Clothing/Material Goods
-Household Utility Use
-Transportation/Travel

So yes, that is my official introduction to the topic and I shall begin on one of the segments here soon, sometime when I am either procrastinating on school or feel like I have accomplished enough to garner free time (a rather unlikely concept, I am a bad student)
Hermit
P.S. Sometime here I shall post pictures of me trip a while back, I dont like not having my camera.
